The VTNZ Mechanical Pre-Purchase Inspection is a lower cost offering that focuses on whether the vehicle is mechanically and structurally sound. It's a great choice if you're able to assess the state of the vehicle's interior and exterior yourself.
The inspection covers under the bonnet, the underbody, brake performance, as well as a drive test. Our inspectors will also do an inspection on the exterior for corrosion or damage that impacts its safety & they'll highlight this on the report.
You'll receive a comprehensive mechanical report by email (but no photos with this one, unlike the Full Pre-Purchase Inspection).
You can also choose to buy a Vehicle Inspection ReportTM (VIR), giving you accurate information on the vehicle's history such as whether there's money owing or if it's had inconsistent odo readings. And you could choose to get a Red Book vehicle valuation certificate - a quick and affordable way to see what the vehicle is worth.
For most diesel and some petrol vehicles a physical engine test may not be able to be carried out, however the Vehicle Inspector's expert opinion on the status of the engine will be provided in the report.
