Legal changes in the commercial transport industry

In October 2007, there will be a number of changes that affect the commercial transport industry.

TSL numbers - to show or not to show?

From 1 October 2007, your transport service licence (TSL) number must be shown on the outside of all vehicles operating under that TSL.

This new requirement applies to vehicles operating under a goods service, vehicle recovery service or passenger service licence (except dial-a-driver and private hire vehicle services (such as limousines) where drivers must carry their TSL details with them).

Your TSL number must be displayed on both forward doors, so that it can be seen by a person standing next to the vehicle. It must have the letters TSL before it and should be printed in an easy-to-read typeface on a contrasting background. The size must be at least 48 point (at least 11 mm high).

This is just one of a number of law changes that affect the commercial transport industry from October 2007.  Find out more information by following this link to the Land Transport New Zealand website.
