CV Copywriting Tips

What is a Curriculum Vitae? A CV (or résumé as it's also often called) is your history as it relates to your working life.

We are interested in your qualifications, licences, and experience as it relates to the advertised job. For your curriculum vitae, please remember the following tips:

  • Keep your CV relevant, accurate, and brief.
  • Presentation needs to be clear, neat and tidy - it does not need to be "showy and flashy".
  • Ensure essential details are included:
  • Personal details, including your name and contact details. Provide any personal information you feel may be relevant to the job applied for to give the interviewer a good understanding of your values, motivations, any ambitions for the job, your work/life balance and other relevant work considerations, such as personal interests, hobbies, and civic involvements.
  • Qualifications in chronological order
  • Your relevant experience for the role you wish to apply for in a concise form
  • Work history, chronologically

Here are some commonly included headings that you may or may not wish to include in your CV:

  • Full name
  • Address
  • Phone
  • Health
  • Educational Qualifications
  • Interests
  • Referees
  • Skills and Experience
  • Current Position
  • Work History

Remember - your CV is the basis of information from which you may be selected for an interview!  Take your time, and get it right.
