You may notice the next time you're in one of our testing stations that we have updated the look of our check sheet. We now use the same check sheet format for both types of safety inspections we carry out in our testing stations - Warrant of Fitness and Certificate of Fitness. The new format makes it easier for our customers to read and understand the check sheet, especially if there are any fail items.
There are now nine sections listed on the check sheet that each relate to specific parts of the inspection process (interior, boot, under bonnet, lighting, exterior, head/fog lamps, vehicle raised (wheels hanging free), underbody, brakes/performance). For each of these areas, there are a large number of items that we inspect. However, we have removed each of the specific items from the check sheet to ensure customer clarity.
VTNZ carries out Warrant of Fitness and Certificate of Fitness inspections under contract to, and to requirements set by, Land Transport New Zealand. On the Land Transport NZ website is the full Vehicle Inspection Requirements Manual (VIRM); please click on the link to view Land Transport NZ's VIRM.
